Blue Ivy Carter does her own bidding, thankyouverymuch

While we mere mortals spent this weekend doing things like laundry, grocery shopping, and drinking green beer for St. Patrick’s Day, 6-year-old Blue Ivy Carter was in L.A.’s famed Alexandria Ballroom bidding on art. Expensive art.

The event was really a family affair. Blue Ivy attended the Wearable Art Gala with her parents, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, and wore a gold ensemble that matched mom’s. The show was organized by Blue’s grandmother, Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles. And both Beyoncé and Gloria Carter, Jay-Z’s mother, were honored at the event and received awards.

A cute video shows Blue Ivy wrestling the paddle from her dad to make a bid on a painting of Sidney Poitier for $17,000, which is countered by Tyler Perry. Then Blue Ivy bids again, this time for $19,000, prompting celebrity auctioneer Star Jones to comment on the importance of buying art. Tyler Perry apparently won the painting for $20,000, but Blue Ivy pushed on and bid on another piece later in the night. Kids, amirite?!
