Selena Gomez took to social media last night to remind us all that physical perfection is a myth. In a video on Instagram set to a song called, “Dreams Tonite” by Canadian indie pop band Alvvays, Selena and her friends goof around on a boat and just generally look like they’re having fun. She captioned the video: “The beauty myth- an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty. I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails.” Indeed.
