Walmart just opened its second grocery vending machine, and it’s the future

Walmart rolled out a grocery vending machine in Texas recently, which indicates that tests with the first of its kind (opened last year in Oklahoma) must have been successful.

For those who seek to minimize human interaction, this Walmart experiment is paving the path. The machines promise to retrieve a full grocery order in under a minute, and the service is free to customers with an order total over $30.

According to Business Insider, “Not only do customers not have to wait for an associate to bring them their order, but they also never need to set foot inside the store,” a Walmart spokesperson said. “The whole process can take less than a minute and we’ll be adding more pickup times soon to allow customers to pickup their orders anytime … day or night.”
