Gabrielle Union wrote an emotional op-ed in the Los Angeles Times about the scandal surrounding her Birth of a Nation co-star and director Nate Parker. “As important and groundbreaking as this film is, I cannot take these allegations lightly,” Union wrote. “Regardless of what I think may have happened that night 17 years ago, after reading all 700 pages of the trial transcript, I still don’t actually know. Nor does anyone who was not in that room.” Parker was accused and acquitted of rape as a college student at Penn State in 1999.
