SINEAD O’CONNOR DIES AT AGE 56

Sinead O’Connor has died at the age of 56. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time,” the singer’s family said in a statement to The Irish Times and the BBC. The singer’s cause of death was not given. O’Connor rose to fame with her 1990 rendition of the Prince song “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which peaked at No. 1. She released 10 studio albums during her career. She was nominated for several Grammys and won best alternative music performance in 1991 for I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got.
