Nichelle Nichols has died at the age of 89. Nichols is best known for her role as Lieutenant Uhura on the original “Star Trek” series. Her son Kyle Johnson announced her death online. According to Variety she died Saturday evening in Silver City, New Mexico. The Star Trek Icon became an advocate for NASA and space exploration.

However she is changing cities and is the first “Housewife” to do so. She is joining the cast of The Real Housewives of Orange County for season 17.
